reading material

Been searching for nice thrifting blogs to follow lately. I decided I'd probably write about stuff I've thrifted and places I've been to lately. I didn't find thrifting interesting til I actually entered a thrift store for the first time last year. I'm quite amazed with the number of cool things you can find in there. From books to clothing to shoes to whatever, the possibilities are pretty endless. So now I am on a mission to go to at least two thrift stores wherever I go.

So, suggestions for thrift blogs to follow? I know there are hundreds out there, but I just can't find the one that I'll be hooked with for a little while.

"Country-nizing"

So yesterday, my husband and I went "mudding" and "two tracking" along with our friends. Before I met my husband, these activities were not in my vocabulary. I didn't even know such terms even existed! Ever since we moved to the mountainous part of West Virginia, we've been a little more in touch with nature (how cheesy) than before.

So we took two trucks to go explore Kate's Mountain. I've only been there once, and it's got a spectacular view! It's not cool though if you get carsick or have phobia with heights. So mudding was pretty interesting, I just get paranoid about sliding, getting stuck and mud seeping through the doors of the truck. Luckily, none of those happened!

So now I am working on putting all the videos I took and hopefully I get to do that soon because well, I have been pretty lazy (see previous post about me being lazy).

Oh, and I didn't bother bringing my camera with me because I was too worried about its safety (aka mud getting in the truck). Okay, I'm rambling too much.

Forgive the poor quality of these photos. They were taken with iPhone, without sunlight.

2012

It's a brand new year and I'm still stuck on 2011. I still procrastinate and have been getting less productive each day. But since I still have lots of time in my hands, I decided I should go back to writing again.

I have a lot of photos to edit, and I still have loads of shoots to do with friends before they leave. :(

I said I'm not going to have resolutions this year because I never really end up doing it so I thought it doesn't matter if I have one or not. But a few days ago, I realized I should anyway. Better late than never. So this year, I resolve to write more. I noticed that I'm a little less tense when I get to write, especially when I really need to vent something out.

And lastly, I resolve to be less boring.

stranded

So i was traveling to west virginia when one of my flights got cancelled and had me stranded at Phoenix for more than 24 hours. My airline gave me a free hotel room but I only got to stay in it for a little less than six hours, since I had to check out at noon. So I had ten hours to spare so I called up two of my friends who live around the area to hang out. I would've been even more devastated if I didn't know anybody down there.

Gee, how time flies so fast when you're napping.

bits and bobs

Finally got my hands on those gorgeous Jessica Simpson Dany heels. I've been looking all over the internet for it but most of them were priced at $100 or more. I was skeptical about that, so I assumed I'll find it somewhere, even if they've been long gone from the aisles of shoes at department stores.

So one day, as I was walking around the clearance section at my Macy's (CA), I found it! But it was a size 10, I tried it but it really is a size too big. The lady there was nice enough to look for a size 9 at other Macy's branches and I got lucky in Sarasota, FL. :) So I called up the Macy's in Sarasota and ordered it right away. It was $49.99 at CA, but only $34.99 at FL. Weird, but hey, good deal!

And that camera, I snagged at one of my favorite antique stores here in WV for 25 bucks. Not bad for a 1959 camera. I loaded a roll of film in it and we'll see if this baby works.

What awesome deals did you get lately?

quickie

I got in to WSS Monday of this week. Heck, I went through so much trouble getting here. And yes, that includes me getting stuck somewhere for more than 24 hours, plane crash scares, hotel room scares, and a bunch of other things that I will maybe write about soon, kind of a warning for other girls out there traveling alone. But all is well, I am back to where I wanted to be :)

just a thought

Last year, when I actually had time to sit in front of the telly, I happen to watch a show called Teen Mom. It's basically a reality show on MTV and they follow the lives of young girls who got knocked up. Most of them are very young and I just can't believe that they would show something like this in national TV. I mean, come on, I know these things really happen but is there really a dire need to show it to a bunch of people? I think majority of MTV's viewers are young people and it disappoints me that they have to see this. I am not trying to hate on MTV or the creators of the show, I guess I just hate the thought of this show being accessed easily just by anyone.

In my opinion, people could react in two ways: it's either they do the good, or God forbid, the bad. Maybe the creators of the show wanted this to be an eye opener for teens out there, but if you could remember a few years back, there were groups of teenage girls who swore they had to be pregnant in highschool (or something to that effect), and some thought that having a baby bump was cool. Heck, I think that's just crazy.
